MHCLG Home Buying and Selling Reform Roadmap
The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) has published its Home Buying and Selling Reform Roadmap — the government's plan to make buying and selling a home quicker, cheaper and less stressful. It is the most authoritative current anchor for the property Smart Data initiative OPDA's standards work supports.
The roadmap is the published outcome of the MHCLG Home buying and selling reform consultation. Read the full document below, or on gov.uk.

Why it matters for OPDA
The roadmap sets the policy direction for digitising and de-risking the home buying and selling process. It reinforces the case for the data standards OPDA is authoring — the Property Data Trust Framework and its Smart Property evolution (SPDTF) — and for the wider UK Smart Data programme the property sector sits inside.
- Upfront information. Standardised, machine-readable property data made available early in the transaction — exactly the gap OPDA's overlays (BASPI, the Law Society TA forms, HMLR searches) are designed to fill.
- Data sharing and reuse. Trusted, provenance-bearing claims that move between parties without re-keying — the verifiable-claims model OPDA's standards adopt.
- Digital identity. "Verify once, use many times" identity proofing aligned to the DVSTF (Digital Verification Services Trust Framework).
