The Open Property Data Association and organisations across the property industry are developing the Smart Property Data Trust Framework to support the Government’s Smart Data programme, making property information easier to share, understand and trust throughout every transaction.

  • Finance and banking Mortgages, repayment, insurance and financial obligations.
  • Property data services Searches, registers, certificates and utility records.
  • Property technology Digital property records, smart home capabilities and connectivity.
  • Surveying and valuation Construction, condition, alterations and installed features.

The method

From evidence to shared meaning

Authorised source material establishes the evidence base. We publish a candidate model for working-group members to examine, challenge and improve. Each review either returns the model for revision or, once consensus is reached, moves it forward as a draft standard.

  1. People provide source material once, before the review cycle begins.
  2. Assisted analysis prepares a candidate model and ontology from that evidence.
  3. OPDA publishes the candidate with its sources, changes and open questions.
  4. Working-group members discuss, challenge and improve the candidate.
  5. Requested changes return the candidate to preparation for another pass.
  6. Consensus exits the cycle and the agreed model becomes a draft standard.

People remain responsible for meaning and decisions. AI assists with extraction and comparison. Working-group members challenge the result, resolve disagreements and decide whether it is ready to become a draft.
